Ren Zhengfei said at a Huawei dialogue that he could license a 5G patent to a US company. He also said that Europe has given Huawei many opportunities.
Deutsche Welle Chinese Network) Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei said on Thursday (September 26) that the company could license 5G technology to a US company at a dialogue on artificial intelligence.
According to the “First Financial News” report, Ren Zhengfei said: “We are not authorized to all Western companies, but authorized to a Western company, so that there is large-scale market support, we think this company should be a US company. I think 5G is a pediatric thing. The biggest industry in the future is artificial intelligence. We don’t want artificial intelligence to suffer from physical lists. We hope to provide a service for human beings together.”
Ren Zhengfei said: “All patents are granted to the company in a fair and non-discriminatory manner. We hope to serve humanity together with Europe, the United States, and South Korea at the new starting line.”
Ren Zhengfei also said: “Now Europe has given Huawei a lot of opportunities. I think the world has given Huawei many opportunities. I think it is very tolerant and satisfying. I can’t ask everyone to understand us in a short time.”
Earlier this month, Ren Zhengfei said that Huawei 5G technology licenses can be sold at one time, including patents, codes, blueprints, and production technologies.
Reuters commented that Ren Zhengfei’s authorization to authorize 5G technology marks Huawei’s latest attempt to minimize the impact of the US trade ban. Since May, Huawei has been included in the US trade blacklist. It is estimated that its mobile phone business revenue may be reduced by 10 billion US dollars this year.

Huawei is already producing 5G base stations without US components.
According to Reuters, Ren Zhengfei also said on Thursday that it is already producing 5G base stations that do not contain US components, and plans to double production next year.
Ren Zhengfei said that tests were conducted in August and September. This year’s production capacity will be 600,000. It is estimated that 1.5 million will be produced next year.
Zhang Wenlin, chairman of Huawei’s strategy department, told Reuters that the base station that does not contain the original US is not inferior.
Ren Zhengfei said that if possible, Huawei still wants to use the original US, because it has “feelings” with long-term US suppliers.
Norwegian 5G construction does not rule out Huawei
Norwegian cabinet minister Nikolai Astrup told Reuters that there is no plan to exclude Huawei from the country’s 5G telecommunications network.
Astrup said: “We have a good dialogue with companies on security issues, and then there will be companies to choose their own suppliers. We do not impose any ban on any supplier in Norway.”
Telenor, Norway’s largest telecommunications company, plans to choose a 5G technology supplier this year and is preparing to officially launch commercial services in 2020. Petter-Boerre Furberg, head of Telenor’s domestic operations, said: “The process we are working on is open to all partners.”
